COACHING KIDS IN THE ART OF BOXING AND LIFE

ISSA was born into poverty in a Cameroon village. He ran wild as a teen until, unable to defend himself, he took a serious beating. Bad boy Issa was taken in hand by a boxing coach and there was no stopping him.

Bam, Bam, Bam he was crowned triple European welterweight champ.

Bam, Bam, Bam the ultimate crown, World Welterweight professional champion once, twice, thrice.

Tragedy struck, with the boxers’ nightmare – a detached retina KO’d him out of the ring.

BUT NOT OUT OF LIFE

Today at 29 ISSA HAMZA is devoting his life to  the creation of an Academy to work with boys and girls. And I was privileged to be at this morning’s session in PARIS 18.

A tough 2 hour workout for the kids, who learn to honour and obey coach ISSA, to respect each other AND ABOVE ALL themselves.

I am proud to join up with ISSA HAMZA, a world champion guy. Today in PARIS and soon in CAMEROON.

Today’s moslem women throughout the world are starved for clothes that are both fashionable and modest. A huge market opportunity.

You can – YES YOU CAN. But instead of designing attractive, but generic, lookalike garments GET OUT THERE. In the attic, the photograph albums of your grandparents, the street, especially of ordinary folk, not the rich and fashionable, the markets. . .

Look for what regular folk are wearing and what is missing. Like fashion for moslems.

I had 3 outfits made for summer in the garden and friends told me « Hey that’s what my grandpa wore in the African village. »  They’re made from light cotton, comfortable and protect my pink skin from the summer burn. See what I mean?

So stop poring over fashion mags, which put you in copycat mode, stop doing generic ethnic, and start seeking your very own, unique, winning idea.

Just like Christian Dior, YSL, JPG, Christian Louboutin – and Aheda Zanetti.
