Disorder

       . . .GLOBAL DISORDER

« Don’t Change it if it ain’t broken » Mick Jagger.

Kamila Shamsie’s brilliant essay on the theme of ‘Disorder’ in this w/end FT, with an illustration by Jonathan Kavanagh, shows where and why we are there today.

Prior to the Bush & Blair blunder in Iraq and the Arab Spring, the entire region was in a state of stability and order. Albeit with a murderous reign of terror.

The overthrow of the Dictators has brought confusion, disruption, breakdown in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Libya. . . a conflagration that invariably follows the overthrow of repressive regimes and their Tsars.

And beyond, millions of refugees fleeing murder and mayhem, flooding Europe’s capacity and willingness to provide succor and shelter.

The unleashing of the dogs of war with devastating terrorist attacks in our cities, in Africa and more to come.

World media is doing publicity for the triumphant terror organisations, with no doubt a powerful recruitment of wannabe jihadists throughout the world, including our own neighborhoods.

Politician’s are braying « IT’S WAR »- the ultimate disordering order. To boost their popularity.

We the citizens are now numbed out by the hourly reports of atrocities.

« Each move is dictated by the previous one – that is the meaning of order » Tom Stoppard, « Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead »

The same applies to the ‘new order’ of Disorder – we must expect a step by step logic into more and deeper disorder.

To bring us, perhaps, to believing « better the world of dictatorship than the world of disorder »

Now that we know what and why the disorder, our leaders must know how to use that knowledge to broker a strong and stable peace.

TO FIND THE LIGHT AND LEAD THE WORLD OUT OF DARKNESS.
