This is the London Financial Times, (not a marxist/leninist rag), analysis:

As Ferguson burned, everywhere helicopters, armored vehicles, guns, grenades, tear gas… all illusions of racial harmony also burned.

Visions of ‘Nam.

The poor urban population of Ferguson is 70% black with a median income of $36k p.a. versus $52k p.a. nationally.

– Unemployment: black 16% – white 8%.

– The Mayor & Police Chief are white.

– Local Government:  5 white – 1 black.

– Police Force:  53 white – 3 black.

– Stop & search: 7 times more likely for blacks than whites.

Ms Bowman said as she observed the wreckage « Obama should have come to Ferguson, instead he just read out a speech. He may have the same skin but he is just a white man…
